STEVEN DAVID, National Speaker & FRANK GOSWITZ, Knoxville Realtor

This week is Realtor Appreciation Week at the Knoxville Association of Realtors and I was fortunate during the lunch hour to listen to Steven David a national speaker and Realtor from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Steven had a great message is to believe that everything you do is open to everyone else you care about.  No secrets, only the truth just like our message No Tricks Just Sold.  Steven showed a video where he was leading a boat race after 3 laps (race lasted 4 laps) going well over 200 mph and all of a sudden he hydroplaned and flipped in the air.  He stopped the video and asked the audience “What do you think I was thinking?”  Everyone in the audience said “You started praying!”  Surely, not about the next listing or the customer you lost to another agent while he was upside down in the air.

Steven mentioned even though social media is important, building relationships with people is still the most important to be a successful Realtor.  To be a successful listing and selling agent you must PROSPECT and not be afraid to ask people for their business.  Steven asked the audience do you drive by and pass the For Sale By Owner sign or do go introduce yourself and let them know you will be glad to assist them if they need a professional Realtor?  I have never been afraid to prospect for listings calling or knocking on doors of For Sale By Owners (FSBO) or Expired listings.  I try to make a game of it to bring out the competitiveness in me and have fun with it.  One thing I love to do when Dawn George, my assistant, and I drive to visit a past client or go to take pictures of one of our new listings; is put my index finger up like an antenna and make a sound of beep, beep, beep.  As I see a FSBO directional sign and come closer to that home the beep noise gets louder and louder knowing that I am zeroing in on a future listing.   Confidence!

Steven David also mentioned Today is today and yesterday is over with so you can’t do anything about what happened in the past.  Don’t worry about what you don’t know.  Worry about what you do know.  One last point is to “Enjoy the Outcomes and Do The Best You Can.”

Thank you Steven David for your time, knowledge and message you shared with us.  Do What Must Be Done To Succeed Now!  Finally, the boat landed right side up and safely on the water for Steven David and the rest of us.
